Crystal Bowerox has definitely come out on top, releasing two albums since appearing on AI; her latest album All That For This was just released in March and is about to add acting as part of her repetoire playing the iconic Patsy Cline on Broadway. Remember that last American Idol 'non-winner' who went from singing to acting and won an Oscar for that? Ahem...it was Jennifer Hudson. Who knows, Crystal certainly has the chops and determination to succeed in everything she does. She writes her own darn songs for Christ's sake and they're darn good judging from her performance last Tuesday at the famed Troubadour in West Hollywood.
Packing the house, Crytal showcased her famous Joplin-esque pipes in "Shine" going from passionate to warm, vulnerabilities in "Get Me Out" and her current single "Dead Weight" about letting go which she said she wrote to comfort herself from panic attacks. During one of her encores, she brought out local singer Moi Navarro for a powerful, raw rendition of "Hallelujia."
Bowersox continues her tour through August then she quickly transisitions to her featured role on Broadway playing Patsy Cline in "Always...Patsy Cline."
